Grandparents visit
Annie's grandparents got to visit over Valentines weekend. We were especially excited as my dad had not seen Annie yet. She was born the day after he had to go back to Canada last year.
Mom was thrilled :) Annie liked her more than me!
At least she still let me hold her.
Bath time!
Josh made a great fire. I love being warm. I think I would pick that over cold usually.
Grandpa watching Annie play. We were blessed to have him home with us during the weekend. They came on Wednesday and dad had meetings until Saturday. We girls went shopping for things not found in Canada. :)
Hanging out with grandma.
Our little angel. ;)
Holding up the halo.
On Valentines day Josh grilled steak for us. He used this really yummy espresso rub. We weren't sure about the ingredients going together well (we only tried the rub on one steak) but it was stupendous! I should ask Josh to cook more often. :)
Annie really liked grandpa's beard.

Surprise Party
We went to a surprise party for one of our good friends, Tony. He was under the impression he and his wife were going to visit just Amy and Matt for a little dessert and fellowship.
We sprayed silly string when he walked in the door.
I must confess I wanted to see Teressa's hair more than Tony (sorry...). It's lovely by the way!
Simon and the string...
I know this picture doesn't show it, but Amy made some amazing ice cream cake! I'm hoping Josh doesn't ask for it for his birthday cause I'm afraid I might mess it up.
I think this was Annie's first party!

A baking project and camera experiment
I made a chocolate mug cake from a recipe I saw on facebook (thanks Megan!)
I was pretty good if you're in the mood for some chocolate cake fast. The best part was watching it rise in the mug and the shape it becomes depending on the mug used.
I played with the camera's shutter and aperture. I think I will call this one "caos". I don't remember where Josh was that night, but I must have been bored.
I don't know what this is.

Some pictures from January
Annie made a new friend, Emily.
She has been getting some formula lately with my supply low. She looks so big holding the bottle all by herself!
Annie is trying so hard to crawl - no I'm not ready!
The dr. said to start giving her a sippy cup with her solid food...she doesn't quite get the idea yet.
The sippy part is rubber and she loves chewing on it. And the handle.
It has been so exciting to watch Annie grow and learn new skills. She wants very much to do the same thing mommy and daddy do. Oh! And she has said dada and Momma! She won't do it when we ask her to say it though. It just comes spontaneously and I make a big deal out of it so she will keep doing it. :)

A Conversation
Josh and I were woken up one morning by what sounded like construction in our alley. I tend to worry about everything (and I've been going through some lessons to "cure" me) The following conversation ensued:
C: How could they start working on our alley without even a notice? I mean our car is still in the garage. How will I get to the store today? I'll be stuck!
J: I think the car is in the front actually.
C: Really? Okay.........They are making so much noise! My baby needs to sleep!
J: She IS sleeping.
We found out later it was a company cutting down the three trees in front of our neighbors yard down the street. Annie was fine during the whole loud process. ;)

6 Month Check-up
Annie is already 6 1/2 months old! 203 days old, if you want to be precise. I didn't count that, it was on a web site I subscribe too. ;) We went to the doctor this morning and Annie did great! She didn't cry when put on the baby scale, as she had the past times we have put her there. She really liked the paintings on the walls - especially one of a cowboy. I guess that comes with the territory of being born in Texas. Josh will really have to get that shotgun after all!
So for all you numbers people here are her stats:
Weight: 15 Lbs - Her last visit showed her at 12 Lbs 13 oz
Height: 26 1/4 inches - Last visit she was 24 inches
Head: 16 3/4 - Her head hasn't grown too much since her last visit when it was 16 1/2 inches. I guess she just started out with a big head and the rest of her is catching up.
Annie is in the 75th percentile for height and 25th percentile in weight. Yep - she's a Hewitt. I started noticing that when I tried putting 6 month pants and skirts on her. She has absolutely NO hips. I need to find pants that are a 3 month waist and 6 month length! So far her tummy is keeping the skirt/pant up.
She got 4 shots and an oral vaccination which she loved. The oral one - not the other 4. She did great though and only cried for a tiny bit. She was okay once I held her. I think it helps to give her Tylenol before coming to the appointment so she doesn't feel it hurt as much.
And here are some overdue pictures of our sweet baby...
such a sweet smile.
Excited about the camera.
Blowing bubbles
Baby tummy!
Annie wasn't too impressed with Bath day.
In fact she started making faces...(actually she really enjoys taking baths - just not drying off)
