Chewing It Over

Here are some pictures to make you smile on this Friday morning. One of Annie's favorite teething toy is her binky.

It helps to chew on something while pondering questions of life.
There's just something peaceful about a baby sitting in semi-motionless state. Almost as peaceful as watching a baby sleep.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Painting

My grandfather painted this for our dining room. The colors match the area very well. It's special to have something he made - all of his paintings are amazing!
Closeup.

Seeing the Light

Here is the light Josh put up last week. Love it.
See how it lights up the counter and stove space? Yay!

My Handyman

I just have to brag on my husband for a minute...

Besides the fact he is cute, he also is a great handyman! He has fixed and replaced many an item in our house, leaving me amazed at it's potential (the house). I admit I was skeptical at first when we moved in, because I couldn't see past the white walls, but Josh has made me see the light! Literally in this case.

We visited our friendly Ikea and were marveled at its marvels last week when lo and behold we found a track light that is perfect for our kitchen! It was less than a smaller track light would cost elsewhere and included more light bulbs.

We excitedly took it home and Josh attempted to install it. We joyfully threw out the old fluorescent light that had been dying a slow painful death, and Josh set to work. After an ingenious method of screwing it into the ceiling (which was lacking studs in the area in question) he gave me the honor of flipping the switch.

Nothing happened.

We were quite disappointed, but Josh fiddled around with the wires and called his dad for help. I think it's nice asking for help doesn't bother him. We tried again but the light just would not work. Josh checked every wire (they were just fine) and concluded the light was to blame. We returned it a couple days later and got another of the same kind.

The same thing happened.

Then Josh had an idea. He always has ideas and they usually are good. He taped some wires together and voila! The light worked perfectly!

It's so fun to go in the kitchen at night and flip the switch to find I can actually SEE the counters to make dinner. Josh is officially my hero.

Thank you honey!

Discovery

I found the best way to have time during the day for chores is to ensure that your child has accompanied you on multiple outings the previous day as well as the morning of the day you have chores in mind. The child will then sleep most of the afternoon. She will also be very happy to see you when she wakes up and you have just accomplished two things in one day: Chores and a happy baby!

*sigh*

Now if I can just come up with activities for a crawling 9 month old that don't require money and being outdoors.
